ALL STAR BIRTHDAY:  Pat Wheatley, September 28 and Clara Priest, September 30, Happy Birthday!

SUMMARY OF AUGUST 24 PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING.  The council is looking at the possibility of providing some kind of Catholic ministry at the County Detention Center.  The council will be reviewing the rental policy on the parish hall.  Concern was raised over people parking in the fire lanes during the weekend Masses.  Concern was also expressed in helping parents who have children in our school to understand their responsibility to support the parish.  These matters will be reviewed further at the next meeting.

SYMPATHY:  We extend our deepest sympathy to Margaret Matthews and all the family on the death of Frances Matthews.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.

FAITHFUL CITIZENSHIP AND THE CATHOLIC FAITH: Fr. Brian Johnson will be here on Tuesday, September 21, at 7PM in the Parish Hall to speak on the topic of Faithful Citizenship. Mark your calendars and plan to attend this opportunity for adult faith formation!

CATECHETICAL SUNDAY: This weekend there will be a commissioning ceremony at all Masses for those involved in catechetical (religious teaching) ministry of the Church - Religious Education catechists, RCIA team, Inviting Catholics Home team, Children’s Liturgy of the Word catechists, and teachers of religion in the school. The theme this year - Stewards of God’s Gifts - reminds us, that we all share the responsibility to work unselfishly, using the gifts God has given us, to help safeguard our faith and enable it to grow and flourish.

DISCIPLES RESPONSE FUND:  This week our bishop is making his annual appeal to support the work of the church throughout the diocese.  These funds support seminarian and religious education, outreach, the poor, our retired priests and our parish endowment.  Last year St. Romuald had 58 households to make a contribution to this appeal.  I want to encourage everyone to make some contribution to this important appeal from our diocese.

OUTSTANDING SENIOR:  Congratulations to Anna Muriel Hines who was selected as the winner of the Diocesan Sophia Award.  This award will be presented to her by the Bishop at a special Mass held on September 26 at 1:30 pm at St. Stephen Cathedral.  This award is presented each year to outstanding senior parishioners.  Thanks Anna Muriel for the great example of faith and service you give to all of us here at St. Romuald.  God Bless You!

Attention Parents of children in grades 7-12th!  The Religious Education program for 7th-12th starts on Sunday- Sept. 19th 5:30-8:00PM. If your child is not enrolled in this program yet, you need to call the Church office 756-2356.

K-6th Religious Education: We had a great turn out for the 1st day of Religious Education.  There were 38 children in attendance.  They enjoyed a delicious breakfast of homemade cinnamon rolls (Lucille Wheatley) and juice or milk.  There were several parents that joined us also!  Thank you to all the wonderful Catechists who volunteer to teach our children about their Catholic Faith and the dedicated parents who bring their children to Religious Ed. each week!   If you still have not signed your child up for Religious Education, you can contact the Church office at 756-2356.  We are always eager to take new students!

 PIZZA AND MOVIE

What?  We will be showing a PG rated movie, (possibly “Little Rascals”-what do you think?!?) for students in Grades 4th-6th.  Parents must sign their child into the movie since it is PG.

Where?  In the Parish Hall *Bring old blankets to sit on while you watch the movie*.

When?  Saturday, Sept. 25th following 5PM Mass.  We will try to start around 6:10.

Why?  This is to allow St. Romuald Church children in these grades to spend some quality time together and have fun!

Remember!  There is a $2.00 charge per child to cover the cost of the movie.  During the movie, we will be serving pizza, popcorn and drinks!  Also, there must be 1 adult per 7 children, so parents please volunteer to help!!!

IMPORTANT!  If your child is attending, please sign his/her name on the sign-up sheet at the Church’s main entrance OR you can call the Church office 756-2356 and let us know! We need to have a good estimate by Friday-9/24!!  If you have any questions, please call the Church office or Kim Brumfield 756-2143.  Hope to see you there!

NEW PARISH WEBSITE:  I am happy to announce that we have a new website for our parish.  You may find us at www.stromuald.org.  Bookmark this site or put it in your favorites.  You can find a lot of information on our site for example:  Our weekly bulletin, a calendar of parish activities, the saint of the day, the Mass readings of the day, the schedule for our Religious Education programs K-6 and 7-12.  We also have school news for example parentlines, school calendar and sports calendar.  You can read the Pastoral Council minutes, read the daily Catholic news, find daily reflections and find reviews on the latest movies.  If you have a question about our Catholic faith you can find out what the Catechism says.  Also included are some great Catholic links as well as some local county links.  You can also even make a donation online.  Check out our site and give us your comments or suggestions.  Fr.
