St. John the Baptist Parish has been a Catholic presence in Ohio County for over 100 years. Though the Church has changed locations a few times, the faith of the people continues to influence the county. There is no resident priest, as St. John is a mission parish of St. Mary of the Woods Parish, Whitesville. A Catholic sister resides at St. John, ministering to Catholics and non-Catholics alike. Much of this ministry happens informally through home visits and casual conversations with the people.
