Parish HistoryHighlights
Blessed Mother Parish boundaries were defined in April 1948 and the first Mass was celebrated on July 25. Blessed Mother School opened its doors two months later with 299 students and a faculty of five Ursuline Sisters.
In 1968, the school cafeteria was incorporated into the church giving Blessed Mother Church the longest aisle in the city.
On July 1, 1989, Blessed Mother School became part of the Owensboro Catholic Consolidated School System. Today it houses grades 4-6.
Renovations on our church began in June of 1993 and was completed for christmas masses - six months later. In 2002 the parish dream of a family life center came to be. The center has 5 classrooms, a Childrens Liturgy / Bridal Dressing Room, Offices, and St Joseph's Hall which hold enough room to seat 450 poeple. The hall is availiable to rent for weddings, reunions, etc.
