OWENSBORO, Ky. - Approximately one hundred people attended a meeting at the KC Hall, located behind St. Pius X Parish on Tuesday, January 22, 2001, to hear some facts about planned parenthood that people may not be aware of and how to keep the Planned Parenthood organization out of the city of Owensboro. Presenters said that Planned Parenthood is not about parenthood at all; it is actually the number one abortion provider organization in the nation. Abortions jumped 8.5% at Planned Parenthood, so that organization is on the rise.

A brochure was handed out listing some simple ideas and things that could be done individually to help stop abortion. Topping the list was prayer. to pray daily for any abortionist in your town to have a change of heart, spread the Pro Life message one by one with literature, write letters to your congressman concerning abortion, start a phone chain with like minded friends and write letters to the editor of the local paper to name a few.

"If you ever want to feel the true presence of evil in the abortion movement, go to an abortion clinic and stand outside and pray for about an hour and watch those young women go inside crying. The hurt is not just with the women, a lot of distress and hurt is with the husband or boy friend," said Keith Evans.

Fr. Aloysius Powers in his invocation said, "We ask for God’s blessing for those who are endeavoring to support the great gift of life by every effort they can muster and the courage to be willing to pray, to be willing to fast, that we might turn around the law that seems to be so degrading and so destructive, that of permitting the death of the unborn."
