Ursuline Sisters Establish Prayer Days For Missions They Have Served
The Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph have set seven days throughout the year on which the Eucharistic Liturgy will be offered in their chapel for the parishes, schools, and other ministries in which they once served. The Masses will be offered by the Mount chaplain, Father Joseph Mills. The first of these prayer days, for the Ursulines’ former missions in the Diocese of Owensboro, was observed on November 3. The remaining schedule includes former missions in the Archdiocese of Louisville (December 2), in Missouri (January 4), in Nebraska (February 1), in New Mexico (March 3), in Central and South America (April 5), and in other states (May 5).
Each Sister has received a list of all of these former missions, so that they can be remembered by name. The Owensboro diocesan list includes 61 schools, parishes, diocesan offices, and social service/outreach ministries in which the people of God have been served by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph.
Today, Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph serve in approximately 38 ministries in the Diocese of Owensboro. These include schools, parishes, Newman Centers, a hospital, diocesan offices, and a variety of outreach ministries. Ursuline Sisters also serve in the Archdiocese of Louisville and in Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Washington, D.C., and Chile.
