Letter to pastors warns of Planned Parenthood initiatives

Dear Pastor:

The city of Owensboro and surrounding region are in critical danger. The menace goes by the benign name, Planned Parenthood, but we assure you they are a threat to all that we hold dear. Unfortunately they have created a very friendly face for unwitting victims to see. They promise to help women in a vast variety of ways while they ply their wares of destruction and death in the form of contraception and abortion.

Planned Parenthood has already made an appearance in our own community in the form of soft-sell radio commercials advocating promiscuity. What they don’t mention is that the help they offer involves contraception, alternate lifestyles, and abortion. They also made an appearance at the Women’s Escapade at the Executive Inn this past September. In their booth they passed out crayons and coloring books to children while promoting immorality to their target audience of adolescents and adults.

Recent Planned Parenthood Activities:

Offered Free Abortions as a way to ‘help’ the victims of the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack in New York City.
Helped obtain injunctions against partial birth abortion bans in AZ, FL, ID, IA, KY, MT, NJ, RI, VA and WI.
Set up a monitoring group to "prevent the loss of abortion and other reproductive health services" when secular and religious hospitals merge.
· Raised $54,000 for the Balkan "relief effort", used some to fund the training of abortionists for Kosovo’s refugees.
Filed suit to stop parental notification laws from taking effect in Montana and Virginia.

Please read the enclosed documented facts about Planned Parenthood, the nation’s #1 abortion provider, for yourself. Call any of the organizations on this letter or confirm the sources for yourself. When you are assured that we bring the startling truth – and you will – please inform those who look to you for guidance; give sermons, form committees, join with us, and do all that you can to help ward off this purveyor of promiscuity, enemy of the innocent, and exploiter of women and girls. The informational fact sheet on the back of this letter is suitable for reproduction and inclusion in your parish bulletin as a flyer.

We, the undersigned, prayerfully encourage you to consider this critical information in your effort to guide the people in your parish who look to you for leadership. Please, please pray over this issue and then help our community by exposing this very real threat to Innocence and Life. Inform your congregation and stand up for the women and babies; lives depend on you!

The ‘Plan’ is NOT about 'Parenthood'

Leading Abortion Provider – Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading abortion provider.
Abortion Increase - Total annual abortions in the US have declined, yet abortions jumped 8.5% last year at Planned Parenthood.
Abortion Performed on women and girls who are NOT Pregnant!
Few Adoptions - PP’s adoption referrals to other agencies declined 39 percent from 1998 to1999. In 1999, for every 1 adoption referral PP made, it aborted about 61 babies!
Less Primary Care - Primary care clients decreased 26.3 percent from 1998 to 1999. It seems that true health care is not a priority for this death broker.
Little Prenatal Care - Only 17 out of 133 affiliates participated in a Comprehensive Prenatal Care Network project, which aimed to reduce premature births, and infant and maternal deaths.
No Fertility Help - Although infertility is a major concern for many couples, PP mentions no infertility research in recent reports. Instead they develop chemical abortion methods and are excited to participate in studies of the Abortion Pill – RU-486.
Our Tax $$$ - Government grants provided 30% or $187.3 million of Planned Parenthood’s revenue for the year ended June 30, 2000. This was an increase from the previous year. These are OUR TAX $$$!
Excess Income - PP claims to be a not-for-profit organization. Yet, every year, it records an "income in excess of expenditure in the millions of dollars".
More Abortion Income - Planned Parenthood now charges more for each abortion with an average of $350 for a first trimester abortion. PP took in a record $64 Million (29% of its total clinic income) last year from its surgical abortion business. Hardly an insignificant "service" as PP claims.
