PEONIA, Ky. - The Tri-Parish Catholic Community declared November 18, 2001, as "Father Dan’s Appreciation Day." A surprise party for Fr. Dan Kreutzer was held in the evening at St. Anthony, Peonia, KY to express thanks to him for all he has done and continues to do for the community. It was a wonderful evening of fellowship and fun with about 80 people attending.

Some of the items in a list of what Fr. Dan does for the Church here might seem elementary or standard operating procedure to some but for our community we are excited and delighted. In other words, it has not been the norm.

What Fr. Dan Kreutzer has meant to our Tri-Parish Catholic Community:

•Being Priest among us;

•Established or actively involved with monthly reconciliation schedule for all three churches;

• A program to bring our lost families back to church - approximately eight people have returned thus far.

• Extended our county (Grayson) RCIA program by teaching special subjects.

• Offered a workshop for all church ministries, i.e. lectors, lay, hospitality.

• Also established a training program for altar servers.

• Organized a Bible Study Program three times a week for all.

• Introduced us to a Book Club to read and discuss selected books tailored for church ministries, but is open to all.

• Helps lead a youth ministry program and is involved with their activities.

• Helps with our Religious Education (RE) Programs by participating in planning activities, visit classrooms, giving briefings to students.

• Also, established a Bible study class for those parents with students in RE Program.

• Pushed RE class enrollment; this year’s enrollment is higher as compared with last three years.

• Celebrated recent festive days with special Masses such as blessing of animals, children’s Halloween Mass and party, All Saints Day, Christ the King celebration during and after Mass.

• Organized a parish directory and parish census.

• Visits our homebound and sick parishioners.
