In April of 2005 the United States Conference
of Catholic Bishops published the National Directory for Catechesis.
The bishops hope that this directory will be a source of inspiration for
catechesis in the dioceses and parishes of the United States and an
important reference point for the formation of catechists and the
preparation of catechetical resources. It has three basic purposes:
