Mid South Conference

In April of 2005 the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops published the National Directory for Catechesis.  The bishops hope that this directory will be a source of inspiration for catechesis in the dioceses and parishes of the United States and an important reference point for the formation of catechists and the preparation of catechetical resources.  It has three basic purposes:
  • To provide those fundamental theological and pastoral principles drawn form the Church's Magisterium and apply them to the pastoral activity of catechesis
  • To offer guidelines for the application of those fundamental principles in this country
  • To set forth the nature, purpose, object, tasks, basic content, and various methodologies of catechesis.

Copies of this important Catechetical document are available through the Office of Religious Education and through  the USCCB.
